Notice of Race

Event: The Zoom8 World Championship 2007
Organizer: SC TWV Achensee
in cooperation with the Austrian Sailing Federation, the
International Zoom8 Association and the Austrian Zoom8
Association.
The Regatta Area is Achensee, Tirol, Austria
Date: The championship for boys and girls will be held at
Maurach /Tirol from July, 30th to August, 4th 2007.
1 Rules
1.1. The rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 – 2008 will apply.
1.2. The International Zoom8 Class rules will apply.
1.3. This Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions will apply.
1.4. No coach boat is allowed: any interference may result in a penalty applied at the discretion of the International Jury to the appropriate skipper or team.
1.5. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
2 Advertising
2.1. The 2007 Zoom8 World Championship is an Advertising Code Category C event.
2.2. The Organising Authority may require competing boats to carry event-sponsor advertising in accordance with ISAF
Regulation 20. Such advertising shall be affixed in accordance with the Sailing Instructions and may not be changed or removed during the regatta without written approval of the Organising Authority.
3 Elegibility
3.1. All competitors shall comply with the ISAF Eligibility Code (ISAF Regulation 19.2).
3.2. All competitors must be members of ISZA.
3.3. Competitors shall be no more than 19 years old in the year of the event (2007).
3.4. Eligible boats may enter by completing the Zoom8 official entry form as provided through the Austrian Zoom8 Association (http://wc2007.zoom8.at ) not later than June, 30th , 2007.
3.5. Late entries will be accepted, but not later than July, 15th 2007. An extra fee of 100% will apply.
3.6. Competitors participate in the regatta at their own responsibility. See RRS Part 1 – Fundamental Rules.
3.7. The Organising Authority and all parties with the organisation of the event will disclaim any and every
responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage, injury, death or inconvenience that might occur to persons or goods, boat ashore and at sea as a consequence oft participation in the regatta covered by this Notice of Race.
3.8. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party insurance with a minimum of € 1 million per event or the equivalent and shall produce a valid insurance certificate to be controlled within a period of “Registration” mentioned in the Schedule. Boats failing to produce valid insurance certificates within the given time will be excluded from the competition.
4 Fees
4.1. The entry fee is € 150,- excluding bank-fees and shall be paid before June,30th to the following bank account:

4.2. Entry fees are not refundable.
4.3. Entry fees contain 2 lunch.
5. Format of races
5.1. Fleet Race
5.2. If the event has a larger numbers of entries, the Organising Authority may divide the fleet in groups and schedule Qualifying Series and Final Series for this event.
6 Schedule
6.1. Registration:
Sunday, July 29th : from1500 to 1800,
Monday, July 30th : from 0900 to 2000,
Tuesday, July 31st: from 0900 to 1800,
6.2. Measurement and inspection:
Monday, July 30th : from 0900 to 2000 and
Tuesday, July 31st: from 0900 to 1800.
6.3. Practice Race: Tuesday, July 31st at 1500.
6.4. Opening Ceremony: Tuesday, July 31st at 1900.
6.5. First Race: Wednesday, August 1st at 1000.
6.6. Twelve (12) races are scheduled.
6.6.1. Fleet Races: from Wednesday, August 1st to Saturday August 4th .
6.6.2. Group Race: Qualifying Series:
Wednesday, August 1st and Thursday, August 2nd
6.6.3. Group Race: Final Series:
Friday, August 3rd and Saturday, August 4th.
6.7. On the last day of the regatta no warning signal will be made after 1500 hrs.
6.8. Price giving ceremony will be held after the races has completed.
7 Measurement
7.1. Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate.
7.2. A boat or equipment may be measured/inspected at any time during the championship for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions.
8 Sailing Instructions – Course - Berthing
8.1. The sailing instructions will be handed out at registration.
8.2. The Course to be sailed will be a trapezoid course with separate starting and finishing line.
8.3. The target sailing time for the first boat will be approx. 60 minutes.
8.4. Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the harbour.
9 Penalty system
9.1. RRS Appendix “P” will apply (and can be changed by the sailing instructions).
9.2. RRS Appendix “N” will apply.
9.3. Decisions of the International Jury will be final, in accordance with RRS 70.4.
9.4. Arbitration: for protests involving an infringement of a Rule of Part 2 of the RRS, an arbitration hearing may be held instead of a protest hearing.
10 Scoring
10.1. The Low Point System of RRS Appendix “A” will apply.
10.2. Four (4) races are required to be completed to constitute a series and the world championship
10.3: Fleet Race:
10.3.1., Up to 4 races no discards allowed.
10.3.2. if 5 to 8 races are sailed, one (1) discard will be allowed.
10.3.3. if 9 to 12 races are sailed, two (2) discards will be allowed.
10.4. Group Race:
10.4.1 The Organising Authority reserves the right to amend the scoring system through the Sailing Instruction.
11 Prizes
11.1. The overall winners by boys and girls will be awarded the title of “Zoom8 World Champion 2007”.
11.2. Prizes will be awarded for the first three places for boys and girls.
11.3. Remembrance prizes will be given.
12 Radio Communication
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
13 Rights to use names, media, images, sound and likeness
By filling an entry to this event, an athlete automatically grants to the Organizing Authority and the sponsors of the event the right, in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of him/her during the period of competition without compensation. An athlete also accepts his/her name, sail number, country and results to be published on the Internet.
